Dismissed civil judges demand justice

By Our Staff Correspondent 2017-09-12
HYDE RABAD: Dismissed civil judges on Monday staged a protest demonstration outside the Sindh High Court building, off Miran Mohammad Shah Road, demanding their reinstatement.

They also raised slogans in support of their demands.

Some lawyers also joined former civil judges, including Mian Fayyaz Rabbani, Muzaffar Ali Rajput and Fagir Lakho, who carried banners and placards inscribed with appeals for justice. They said they were dismissed from service on the basis of `fake` annual confidential reports (ACRs).

They appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take action against those who had `manipulated` their ACRs.

They were not seeking any favour, but demanding justice, they said.

The dismissed judges said that on one hand they were deprived of promotions in their 21-year-long service while on the other they were dismissed from service on the basis of the fake ACRs.

According to them, their sacking negates a Supreme Court ruling which says an inquiry is to be conducted before any major punishment.
