PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers belonging to various localities of the provincial capital have demanded of the party`s centralleadership and parliamentary board to award ticket for the by-poll in NA-4 constituency purely on merit. The seat fell vacate af ter death of PTI MNA Gulzar Khan in late August.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, PTI Town-IV Labour Wing Chairman Salahuddin Mohmand said merit should be followed in allotment of ticket for the forthcoming by-elections. He added the ideological workers deserved to be awarded the ticket.

Flanked by other PTI acdvists, he expressed the hope that the central leadership and parliamentary party would award ticket to an ideological worker who rendered sacrifices for the party. He said they had some reservations over allotment of tickets in last general elections and the leadership would hopefully remove the complaints this time.

He said there were reports about awarding the ticket in NA-4 to someone who recently joined the party.

Mr Mohmand said he had also submitted application with the party`s parliamentary board for awarding ticket to an honest worker. He hoped the board would take decision by taking all workers in confidence. Bureau Report
