MARDAN: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan has said that loss inflicted by terrorism on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in terms of precious lives and infrastructure is unimaginable.

Inaugurating the newlyconstructed anti-terrorism courts here on Monday, he said that terrorism also affected the province in terms of slowdowning economic progress, disruption of social structure and bringing damage to politics.

`It is our duty, as guardians of justice, to protect our people and preserve the fundamental principles upon which our society is built,` said the PHC chief justice.

He said that the specialised courts would serve as a bastion of justice andbacon of hope for all the people affected by terrorism. To ensure fairness, impartiality and efficiency, these courts consist of highly skilled judges, prosecutors and experts in the field of counter-terrorism.

`Fight against terrorism is not solely the responsibility of judiciary but it requires a comprehensive and coordinatedapproach involving all branches of government, law enforcement agencies, intelligence services and the public at large,` said the PHC chief justice.

He said that all relevant agencies must work collectively to dismantle the network of terrorists and disrupt their financing besides countering the extremist ideologies.
