MWM asks govt to withdraw cases against ulema

KARACHI: The Majlis Wahdat1-Muslimeen demanded on Sunday that the authorities withdraw all cases registered against ulema belonging to the Shia and Sunni sects for violation of the Loudspeaker Act.

Speaking at a press conference here, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas of the MWM warned that they would give a call for countrywide protest if the cases were not withdrawn.

He said that the MWM would not accept restriction on the movement of ulema and ` during Muharram.

Expressing his dissatisfactionover the security measures being taken in interior of sindh for Muharram, the MWM leader said that the provincial government was not sincere in resolving the issues.

He regretted that the local government elections were being held in the month of Muharram.

He asked the Election Commission of Pakistan and the apex court to reschedule the polling dates after Muharram.

Other leaders including Maulana Nishan-i-Haider, Maulana Ehsan Danish, Allama Mubashir Hasan, Abdullah Mazhari, Yaqub Hussaini, Alam Karbalai, Ali Hussain Naqvi, Allama Ali Anwar Jafri were also present.
