ICU, Kyrgyz varsity agree on cooperation

PESHAWAR: The Islamia College University (ICU), Peshawar, and the Educational-Scientific Productive Complex, International University of Kyrgyzstan (ESP-lUK), have inked a Document of Understanding for an active academic collaboration in various branches of the scientific knowledge and education.

During his weeklong visit sponsored by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan from Oct 2-9, the ICU vice-chancellor, Prof Habib Ahmad, and ESP-lUK president Asylbek Aidaraliev signed this document on Oct 8.

It will come into force soon after formal acceptance and sanction from both the governments, said a press release issued by the Islamia College University here on Tuesday.

The document specifies cooperation between the two academic institutions in the areas of exchange of faculty and research scholars; exchange of students; joint research activities and lectures; participation in seminars and academic meetings; exchange of published academic material and other related information; and special short-term academic programmes, the press release said.

The Pakistani delegation comprised educationists, scientists and doctors sponsored by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.

Its task was to establish academic contacts between the academic institutions of the two nations and assess higher education institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic for exchange and introduction of new technologies.
