Fire reduces over 50 mud-thatched houses to ashes

MITHI: More than 50 mudthatched houses were reduced to ashes along with valuable belongings and stocked grain and as many goats and sheep were killed in two fire incidents in Thar villages over the past two days, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The hre that broke out in Chachhi village near Chhachhro town on Wednesday completely destroyed 17 mud-thatched houses and other structures.

The affected villagers told journalists that the fire consumed everything in their houses and it took them and fire tenders five hours to put out the blaze.

They demanded the government should pay them compensa-tion for the losses caused by the fire.

In the other fire incident in Noorani village near Dahli town on Tuesday evening, the Ere destroyed over 38 structures, including a seminary building.

The affected villagers, including Haji Mohammad Yousaf Samejo, Mohammad Hanif and Miandad, told journalists the blaze reduced their valuables, including cash, gold and stocked grain to ashes and killed over 50 sheep and goats.

They said that they informed fire service in time but the only fire tender in nearby town was stated to be out of order. `By the time the fire tender reached the village from Chhachhro town everything had already reduced to ashes,` said the villagers.
