Nawaz Sharif

2018-10-12
I HAV E waited long enough to write these few lines. As a regular Dawn reader, I try not to miss reading your regular features, including letters to the editor. While I daily find a letter or two in support of the PTI and its leadership in the issue of Oct 10 it was a top letter I have hardly, if ever, found one favouring Nawaz Sharif. It is strange then that despite allocating a full column for the eulogies being authored in favour of the PTI, Dawn appears to be getting a bad bargain in return.

I have never voted for Nawaz Sharif or his party since I have always found myself on the side of KP`s nationalist party. But Iconfess that whenever I step on the motorway for my journey to whichever part of Pakistan, a prayer of thanks and blessings goes from my heart and lips for Nawaz Sharif.

The motorway indeed is an enduring example of his vision, which I too had criticised.

I wish Nawaz had been around, for he alone could have ensured the early completion of the Hassanabdal-Abbottabad part of the great motorway project.
