MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s former MPA Khurram Sohail Leghari, who had joined Jahangir Tareen group, has announced quitting politics, saying he will be supporting his younger brother Umer Leghari in the next election as per the desire of his father, Sardar Chunnu Leghari, also an ex-MPA.
Issuing a video statement on social media, Khurram Leghari admitted that he committed some`political blunders` after which his father nominated his younger brother Umer as his political heir and the next candidate from the family for PP-273 constituency.
He said that in a tribal gathering held at BetMir Hazar,Muzaffargarh district, his father had also placed the turban (Pagri) on the head of his younger brother Umer, as a symbol of his support for him.
He said following his father`s verdict, he will be supporting Umer Leghari in the next election.
Khurram Leghari was elected an MPA as an independent candi-date from PP-273, and then joined PTI in 2018.
Later, he opposed PTPs chief minister Usman Buzdar and joined Jahangir Khan Tareen`s group and left the party, which annoyed his father Chunnu Leghari, who after consulting with local voters announced that he himself would be a candidate in the next election instead of his son Khurram Sohail.
However, later Chunnu Leghari joined the Pakistan People Party (PPP) and his son Umer Khan Leghari is said to be the PPP candidate in the coming elections.
