BAHAWALPUR: The Uch Sharif police claim to have killed two robbers in an `encounter` near Uch Sharif on Tuesday night.

According to a press release, police had arrested two suspects Zulfiqar of Jamal Darvesh and Muhammad Hanif of Rahim Yar Khan in connection with a double murder case in Uch Sharif the other day.

On Tuesday, a police party took them to identify and recover weapons.

The release claimed that on their return, eightmasked men attacked the police party in a bid to get them released. After a `shootout`, Zulfiqar and Hanif were found dead while the attackers managed to nee under the cover ofdarknessleaving behind two motorcycles and as many pistols.

The release said a few days back in Uch Sharif, Zulfiqar and Hanif had murdered two young men, one of them was the lone brother of five sisters.

It claimed that both were involved in more than 30 cases of robbery and murder.

Police have registered a case against the assailants.
