CM for special steps to ensure security of Peshawarites

Bureau Report 2013-11-12
PESHAWAR, Nov 11: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed for special measures aimed at ensuring foolproof security to the people and eliminating spurious drugs and substandard edibles from the markets in the Peshawar city. He also directed the officials to keep the city clean and keep a check on prices of daily use items.

He issued these directives while talking separately to the newly appointed Peshawar Commissioner Munir Azam and Capital City Police Officer Ejaz Khan here on Monday.

Mr Khattak asked the commissioner to take effective measures to maintain balance between demand and supply of daily use items so their shortage could be avoided. He further directed the commissioner to activate drug and food inspectors against sellers of spurious drugs and substandard edibles.

The chief minister said that spurious drugs were poison and that their elimination was a must to avoid loss of precious human lives. The chief minister directed the CCPO Ejaz Khan to make foolproof security arrangements in the city during Muharram. He, however, said that people should not be troubled in the name of security.

Mr Khattak stressed that the police should bring about positive change in their behaviour with citizens to help arrest the anti-social elements with their cooperation.

Paying tributes to the sacrifices rendered by the police personnel for the security of the people, the CM said both the government and the people acknowledged the valour. The chief minister said that if the bribery at the level of police stations was stopped then the Pakistani police would be one of the best force of the world and people would respect it with heart and soul.
