TIMERGARA, Nov 11: Central leader of Jamaatud Dawa Abu Waleed on Monday asked Pakistani government to distance itself from the US-led war on terrorism and sever ties with the US.
Mr Abu Waleed told reporters at Timergara that the US drone strikes were a big hurdle to peace talks between the government and the Taliban and therefore, Pakistani government should adopt a clear policy against drone strikes in the country`s tribal areas.
He said peace could not maintain in the region in the presence of US troops. The JuD leader said during the recent visit to Washington, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not persuaded the US leaders to stop drone strikes in the country.
He said the US always preferred relations with India to those with Pakistan. Mr Abu Waleed said his organisation had never been involved in terrorism. `No case has been registered against our worker. It is a clear proof that we have nothing to do with militancy or terrorism,` he said. The JuD leader said killing of innocent people was forbidden in Islam. He said a rally would be held in Timergara today (Tuesday) against the US and that provincial JuD leader Attiqur Rehman Chohan would address it.
MUSLIMS KILLED BY US `MARTYRS`: Provincial chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Professor Ibrahim on Monday said all Muslims killed by the US troops were `martyrs`.
He was addressing at a function organised by the JI Lower Dir chapter here. Professor Ibrahim said the US had been engaged in negotiation with the Afghan Taliban but it did not want Pakistan to act like that.
He said the US drone strikes would not stop until Nato supplies continued to pass through Pakistan. The JI leader said the party activists would block Nato supplies to Afghanistan.
He said the government should delay local government elections for some time in order to give suitable time to political parties to prepare for them. Professor Ibrahim said his party would support Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s move to oust corrupt provincial ministers and end corruption. JI provincial secretary and former MNA Shabbir Ahmad, district chief and former MNA Maulana Asadullah, Malik Sher Bahadar and other local leaders were also present on the occasion.
MAN KILLED: A man was allegedly gunned down by rivals in Dalgram Maidan area on Monday. Police identified the slain man as Aminullah and said his family had a land dispute with the family of Arab Khan for one year.
They said Aminullah and Arab Khan had an argument, which led to exchange of firing and leaving Aminullah dead and Arab Khan injured. Police said they had registered a case and began investigation.
