3 convicted in murder case

PESHAWAR, Nov 11: A local anti-terrorism court on Monday convicted three people of murder of an alleged rape victim`s brother outside tehsil courts in Karak and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Judge Anwar Hussain Khan also ordered acquittal of two suspects, including police official Hakeem Shah and brother Jawed Shah, for lack of evidence.
He ruled that the prosecution had proved the murder case against Hakeem Shah`s brother Ibrahim Khan and Rehmat Shah and Waheed Ahmad and that the evidence on record linked them with the commission of the offence.
Alamzeb was killed on Dec 9, 2011, near the entrance to tehsil courts in Takht-i-Nusrati, where he had gone to attend the court proceedings related to the alleged gang rape of his sister.
The complainant in the case is Bilqasim Jana, mother of the deceased.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan had taken a suo moto notice of the killing and had directed police to include different sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 in the FIR of the case.
On the killing day, three police officials, including Hakeem shah, who were arrested in the rape case, were produced before the court and it was reported that several police officials and their family members had gathered there and had staged a demonstration against the additional district and sessions judge hearing that case.The complainant had claimed that she had seen Ibrahim Shah fire at her son and that the gunshots caused his death.
The alleged rape victim had named around 13 people, including army sepoy Naseebullah and three police officers Pir Mohsin Shah, Hakeem Khan and Ameer Mohammad, for involvement in her kidnapping and repeated rape for around a year.
The girl said police had raided her house in Marwatano Banda in Karak on July 30, 2010 on pretext of arresting her brother and took her away at gunpoint.
She alleged that during captivity, the accused administered her drugs through injections before repeatedly raping her.
The girl claimed that she escaped from the custody of the accused in Bannu on Sept 19, 2011 when they were transporting her to DI Khan in a car unguarded.
On Jan 31, 2013, an anti-terrorism court had acquitted all 13 accused in the gang rape case for lack of evidence.
