Fesco serves notices on defaulters

FAISALABAD: Two dozen government departments are not paying outstanding Rs22.4 million to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company.
Fesco has issued notices to the defaulters asking them to pay dues till Nov 20 orface disconnection.
Giving breakup of the defaulters, Fesco Deputy Manager Tahir Sheikh said disposal works Silanwale owed Rs2.2 million, chairmanMunicipalCommittee, Chiniot Rs2.1 million, MS DHQ Jhang Rs1.7 million, MS Mian Building DHQ Jhang Rs1.6 million, deputy commissioner Faisalabad Rs 1.3 million, senior engineer Scarp Colony Jaranwala Road Rs1.1 million and SDO provincial building No 2 Bhakkar Rs1.1 million.
The defaulter departments owing payment ranging between Rs0.8 million and Rs0.9 million include superintendent district jail Sargodha, income tax commissioner office, deputy commissioner circuit house Faisalabad, municipal corporation Jinnah Colony Sargodha and main waterworks Sargodha, PMDC SaltMineNo13,Kalabagh.
Other defaulters are MS DHQ Hospital Mianwali, SD Tubewell Dadokhel, Mianwali, superintendent district jail Faisalabad, TMO Sargodha, Water supply scheme Sultan Khel, burn unit DHQ Hospital Sargodha, main waterworks chief corporation Sargodha and superintendent district jail Shahpur Saddar, Sargodha.
SPACE TECHNOLOGY: A three-day World Space Week was launched onTuesday at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) to promote space technology by involving youths.
The event organised by the university in collaboration with the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) was a part of the Rabi Convention 2014. Students from Laboratory School Systems presented various skits, songs and a performance highlighting the world of space.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, UAF ViceChancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad said events were being organised on campus to involve students to evolve their learning process and push them to set hightargetsin theirlives.
Dr Rahmatullah Jilani, the Suparco sciences director, said after its inception in 1961, the commission had successfully launched Badar-1 and Badar-IIin1980 and 2001, respectively. He said in 2011, the commission sent communication satellite PAKSAT that enabled scientists to make further advancements in medical, communication and agriculture sector.
He said Suparco was promoting space use in Pakistan and organising a `space week` in 10 major cities.
Dr Allah Bakhsh urged Suparco to set up a centre at the UAF to encourage the youth to indulge in space activities. He said during the three-day event, besides space walk and water rocket competitions, students will also participate in model male ing competitions, poster display, quiz, and declamation contests.
