T HE rallying slogan in our country is that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.
Similar sentiments are heard from across the border even more vociferously about India`s Atoot Ang.
On many an occasion, I have sat down and pondered as to how anyone could survive 70 years without a jugular vein. In the same line of thought, New Delhi seems quite content with just a part of its Atoot Ang that it keeps yoked to itself with the help of more than half a million soldiers.
It is tragic that the heavenly vale of Kashmir is the victim of two conflicting ideologies for seven decades. In the Indian occupied zone, this beautiful land haswitnessed the worst atrocities and human rights violations.
Kashmiris speak with one voice and appeal to the UN, to get India to fulfill its pledge on Kashmir by giving the Kashmiri people the right of self-determination. I also request Pakistan to actively pursue the Kashmir issue in the United Nations till its peaceful and logical resolution.
