Two injured in gas pipeline blast in bank

BAHAWALPUR: Two persons sustained burns, one of them seriously, in a Sui gas pipeline blast in a bank branch in Model Town C on Saturday.

According to emergency service Rescue 1122 and police, the blast occurred in the gas pipeline in the Khushhali Bank branch when a bank employee, Ayaz, switched on a gas heater.

A a result, Ayaz and a security guard, Tahsean, suffered burns.

The bank staff called the Rescue 1122 personnel who shifted both the injured persons to the BahawalVictoria Hospital, where Ayyaz was said tobein a serious condition.

The blast damaged the ceiling of a room of the building and shattered some windowpanes.

Police were looking into the matter.

MAN BOOKED: Ahmedpur East city police have booked a man for subjecting a girl to assault and uploading her pictures on social media.

The girl (name withheld) said in her complaint to the police that the suspect had proposed her, but later he went to Saudi Arabia. She said they were in contact on phone during thesuspect`s stay abroad.

She said that on his return to the country, the suspect called her for a meeting to a house where he subjected her to assault.

She said that the suspect also uploaded her indecent photographs on social media about a month ago.

She later told her parents about the incident and also reported the matter to police.

On her complaint, the police registered an FIR (No 366/17) under section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the suspect who was at large.
