CAN the power gurus explain why Punjab`s capital is facing loadshedding during peak hours in winter months when the electricity demand is at its lowest? The recent statement by the federal government that loadshedding has been eliminated in the country, and surplus power is available seems incorrect.
One wonders what will happen in summer when there is a much greater demand for power.
A mere expansion of generation capacity in a few regions is not the answer. To run an efficient power system, competent planners, managers and executers ready to work round the clock dedicatedly are needed.
In my opinion, it will take many years to attain uninterrupted power supply at affordable prices.
