LAC and GCU join hands to promote cultural activities

LAHORE: A memorandum of understating was signed between the Lahore Arts Council (LAC) and Government College University (GCU)onWednesdayforencouragement of artistic and cultural endeavours to maximise youth involvement.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan signed the accord at a ceremony organised by the GCU Directorate of AcademicPlanning and External Links at the university. LAC Board of Governors Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi was the guest of honour at the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Zaidi called for changing society`s attitude towards arts education. He said both GCU and LAC had agreed to pool in resources and holding conferences, seminars, talks and workshops on artistic, literary, cultural and intellectual themes, so that a debate could be initiated in this regard.
Ms Hashmi in her remarks saidthat Alhamra had taken a new step that would have positive effects and be of great help in accomplishing the cultural and educational goals.
Executive Director Khan said cooperation with the GCU would rope in youth into positive cultural activities.
According to the 27-point accord, GCU would also impart IT, human resource and other financial management trainings to the employees of the arts council. Later, the vice chancellor presented shields and souvenirs to the LAC of ficials.
