Six policemen arrested for death in custody

SARGODHA: Six Bhalwal Sadar police officers were arrested and fired for killing a theft suspect while in their custody.

Azhar Iqbal, a motorbike mechanic, was arrested by the Bhalwal Sada police at Chak No 2 a couple of months ago and subjected to severe torture by police. He was handed over to his relatives in critical condition.

Later, he breathed his last in the hospital. District Police Officer Muhammad Tariq Aziz ordered the Sargodha superintendent of police and the Kot Momin deputy superintendent of police to look into the incident, who held Station House Office Farooq Latif, ASI Jahangir, and constables Shahid Imran, Ejaz Mumtaz, Aitzaz Ahsan, Ghaus Muhammad, and Muhammad Saeed responsible for the death.

Also,the moharar and two security constables were handed down forfeitures of two-year service for neglecting their duty. The City Bhalwal SHO was also sentenced to forfeiture of service for weak monitoring.

TRAINING: A one-day workshop was organised for the teachers of the Sargodha Divisional Public School and College in which teacher trainers from the education department engaged 50 female teachers of senior and junior campuses.

Commissioner Maryam Khan said that there will be no compromise on the quality of education in the DPS School and College.

She said that training teachers is also necessary to meet the requirements of modern times so that they can teach their students in a better way.
