Sheikhan councillors threaten to besiege CM House

PESHAWAR: Scores of councillors belonging to Sheikhan area on the suburbs of Peshawar have criticised provincial government for what they call its failure to shift office of the village council to a safer place.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, nazim of village council Nasir Khan Musazai said that they would beige Chief Minister`s House if their demand was not met within a week.

Flanked by scores of councillors including Javed Akbar Gul, Mohammad Adil and others, he said that that the office of Sheikhan village council was located at the border of Khyber Agency where elected people could face the risk of life.

He said that provincial had ordered shif ting of the of fice but the order could not be implemented owing to pressure of PTI local leaders.

Mr Musazai, who is also provincial information secretary of PML-N, said that the village council officewas located on Frontier Road near Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency. `Curfew is imposed often in the area owing to which it is not possible for elected representatives to visit the office on daily basis,` he added.

Mr Musazai said that members of village council had requested shifting of the ofñce one year ago and the issue was also discussed with additional director of local government department af ter which a team visited the area and proposed shiftingof theofficefromits present location.

He said that they had also conveyed their reservations to Chief Minister Complaint Cell but the issue was yet to be addressed. He said that it was not only difficult for the elected representatives but also for common people to visit the area because of the situation in Bara.

The nazim alleged that provincial government was not taking interest in shifting of the of fice as it wanted to give benefit of few thousands rupees to its blueeyed people.
