Punjab minister notified as coordinator to address governance issues

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has appointed provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan as coordinator to address the concerns of lawmakers and the public regarding development projects and governance issues in their respective constituencies.

According to sources, the newly-appointed coordinator will also discuss public grievances with the district administrations of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Murree, Jhelum and Talagang.

Following his appointment, the Bilal Akbar Khan convened a meeting with the Rawalpindi divisional administration on Monday and invited members of parliament belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz (PML-N) in the division to the commissioner`s office.According to a notification issued by the Punjab government, coordinators were appointed for nine divisions of Punjab.

The coordinators include Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman for Lahore, Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Bilal Yasin for Gujranwala, Minister for Primary & Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Muhammad Imran Nazir for Faisalabad, Minister for Mines & Minerals Sardar Shair Ali KhanGourchaniforBahawalpur and Minister for Irrigation Muhammad Kazim Peerzada for DG Khan.

Moreover, Minister for Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafique has been appointed as a coordinator for Sargodha, Minister for SchoolEducation Rana Sikandar Hayat for Sahiwal and Ministerfor Communication and Works SohaibAhmedMalikforMultan.

As per the terms of reference, these coordinators will interact with all stakeholders to review the status of overallgovernance in their respective divisions.

They will review the implementation status of the District Sustainable Development Goals Programme to resolve the concerns of the public representatives concerning the programme.

The coordinators also will hold review meetings regarding the implementation of various initiatives launched by the Punjab chief minister.

They will attend meetings of divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners and review the performance of government departments.

These coordinators will also hold meetings with the police in their respective areas to review the overall law & order situation.
