CPO`s restructured wing begins working

LAHORE: The newrestructured wings at the Central Police Office, Punjab, began its working on Thursday after a first meeting of the operations wing held by the Additional IG (Operations) discussed different core functions to streamline police matters and so far the outcome of the National Action Plan across the province.

The participants were briefed about deployment of Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Elite Police Force for the security of 4,000 foreigners working on 164 public and private development projects in Punjab.

It was informed that as many as 3,000 officials of SPU and Elite had been deployed.

Monitoring and Crime Analysis AIG Waqasul Hasan said the inspection of `Maal Khanas` across the province would be completed within the given time limit of two months by the provincial police chief and, for the purpose, a four-member committee headed by SSP Abdul Rab was working round-the-clock.AIG (Operations) Romail Akram, while elaborating the performance of the Punjab police regarding the implementation of the NAP, said the police had registered as many as 1,005 cases and arrested 1,362 violators.

He said 569 landlords, 420 tenants, 21 property dealers and 352 owners/managers were also arrested while 75 people were issued fines.

During the meeting, all received threat alerts were immediately transmitted to various departments and personalities with the coordination of law-enforcing agencies and surprise pickets were also being set up.

Elite Police Force/Special Protection Unit DIG Muhammad Tahir, DIG (Inspection & Vigilance) Muhammad Azeem Khan Leghari, Elite Police Training School Commandant Saad Saleem, Punjab`s AIG (Operations) Romail Akram, Monitoring and Crime Analysis AIG Waqasul Hasan, AIG (Complaints) Faisal Ali Raja, AIG (Legislative Business) Kashif Mushtaq Kanju and SP (Control Room) Yasmin Bashir were also present.
