LAHORE: The PML-Q on Thursday announced supporting PPP candidate Nadeem Afzal Chan for the Senate election from Punjab.

PML-Q Punjab secretary general Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan announced his party`s support to the PPP candidate in the Senate election at a press conference here.

He said Mr Chan (contesting for a general seat), Sarwat Khalid Malik (women seat) and Malik Nausher Langrial (technocrat seat) would be the joint candidates of the PPP and the PML-Q.

PPP central Punjab president Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo expressed gratitude to the PML-Q leadership for supporting Mr Chan. He added the PPP and the PML-Q alliance would continue.

A source in the PPP told Dawn that a top party man had also `requested` the PML-N leadership for votes for Mr Chan. `There are chances that the PML-N leadership directs its eight members to vote for Mr Chan,` he said.
