Teenager injured in Dir blast succumbs to injuries

LOWER DIR: A teenager, who was injured in Shago Kas blast, succumbed to his injuries here on Monday.

Basit, 17, a resident of Shago Kas, was injured when an explosive device went off on Sunday on the bank of Panjl(ora River.

His uncle Zamin Khan said that it was the second incident of its kind at the same place.

He said that an of ficial of bomb disposal squad Sabzi Ali was martyred and another Ajmal was injured when an explosive device went off at the same place a week ago. He added that the officials were trying to defuse the device.

A large number of locals, government officials, social and political activists attended the funeralprayer of Basit. He was a student of 10th grade and had topped last year`s annual examinations.

Local elders demanded of government to announce Shuhada Pacl(age for him.

They also sought compensation for the injured youth, who are under-treatment in a Peshawar hospital.

The deputy commissioner, Wasil Khan, along with other officials visited the hujra of the deceased and offered fateha for the departed soul. He said that a team was called from Peshawar to clear the site from the explosives, which had been dumped there years ago.
