Clerk caught receiving bribe in Sargodha

SARGODHA: A team of the AntiCorruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a clerk at the regional office of the Punjab woman ombudsperson red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs200,000 from a person for ensuring decision in his favour.

The ACE team, led by Assistant Director (Investigation) Tasawar Abbas Bosal, took action under the supervision of Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate Hafiz Muhammad Tufail.

They arrested the suspect while accepting the bribe and recovered the marked currency notes. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Complainant Nadeem Akhtar, a resident of Block No. 18, Sargodha, had reported to ACE that a property dispute between him and his sister was going on at the women ombudsperson man. According to Akhtar, clerk Saddam Hussain had demanded a total bribe of Rs400,000, of which Rs200,000 had already been paid. When the suspect demanded the remainingamount, the ACE conducted a sting operation,leadingto his arrest.

The ACE has registered a case against the suspect and initiated furtherlegalproceedings.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a twostorey shop in the cloth market, reducing goods worth four millions of rupees to ashes.

Rescue teams controlled the fire and saved the market from further damage. According to details, a sudden fire broke out in a two-storey shop of Amin Bazaar Bhalwal due to a short circuit, which engulfed the shop and cloth worth Rs4 million.

WORKSHOP: The department of psychology in collaboration with the counseling centre at the University of Sargodha organised a workshop titled `Neuroscience of Happiness.

The event aimed to explore the intricate relationship between neuroscience and happiness, offering participants valuable insights into the science of emotionalwell-being.

Associate Professor and Trainer at TUOL, Lahore, Dr. Rafiq Dar, provided an in-depth understanding of how neuroscience plays a crucial role in shaping human emo-tions.

Through an interactive and engaging session, Dr. Dar explained the impact of positive suggestions, the role of key hormones such as dopamine and serotonin, and effective strategies for emotional regulation.

Participants actively engaged in discussions on rewiring the brain for positivity, managing stress and anxiety and incorporating mindfulness techniques to enhance overall well-being. Practical exercises were also introduced to help attendees apply neuroscience-based approaches to cultivate happiness in their daily lives.

In his concluding remarks, Department of Psychology Chairman and In-charge Counseling Centre Prof. Dr. Najma Iqbal Malik stated that the workshop was well received, with participants appreciating the opportunity to gain scientific insights into happiness and mental resilience.

The initiative reflects the University of Sargodha`s ongoing commitment to promoting psychological well-being and fostering a positive academic environment.
