Poetry sessions highlight importance of peace, love

TIMERGARA: Different poetry sessions were arranged in Lower Dir on Sunday under the `Revival of Indigenous Culture and Heritage` programme of the provincial directorate of culture.
Social Awareness and Development Organisation (SADO), a local NGO, arranged a poetry session at Khazana. Poets from different areas of the district participated in the event and presented their items, highlighting peace, brotherhood, education and local culture.
On the occasion, SADO programme manager Lal Badshah said the initiative was aimed at reviving Pakhtun culture and traditions.
He said poets, writers and journalists played a vital role in transforming society. He said the poets reflected collective will of the society and culture through their works.
Certificates were also distributed among the participating poets.
The NGO also arranged a similar event at Asbanrr Adenzai, where poets recited poems on significance of peace, Pakhtun-wali and hujra culture and the spring season.
Development Empowerment Women Organisation, another NGO, arranged a poetry session at Malikabad area of Balambat,where the participants presented poems on hujra culture, Pakhtun history, peace and love.
PTI PROTEST: The PTI local chapter on Sunday held a protest rally demanding of the Election Commission of Pakistan to disqualify the PML-N MNA Javed Latif for his `insulting` remarks against Murad Saeed of PTI.
Led by the PTI Lower Dir president Bashir Khan, dozens of party workers gathered in front of the Timergara Press Club and chanted slogans against the PML-N.On the occasion, the protesters said the indecent language by the PML-N lawmaker against Murad Saeed had hurt sentiments of Pakhtuns.
They said the National Assembly speaker should send disquahncadon reference against Mr Latif to the ECP.
The PTI activists vowed that they would continue to fight against the corrupt rulers both inside and outside the parliament. They also demanded of the PML-N leadership to bind its lawmakers to behave decently.
