GUJRAT: The court of an additional district and sessions judge has rejected a plea for registration of a case against Gujrat district police`s senior officials for conducting raids on the Kunjah House, the residence of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and MNA Moonis Elahi.

The petition was filed by Muhammad Riaz, the security in charge of Kunjah House on February 20 the last, seeking orders for registration of a case under section 22 A against District Police Officer Asad Muzaffar, then SP investigation Muzamil Hussain, 11 other officials and at least 180 personnel for what he termed`an unauthorised and illegal` raids on the exchief minister`s residence.

The petitioner said the raids had been conducted without lawful authority on February 1 and 6, alleging that the raiding teams also took away several gadgets, documents and other valuables from the house.

Gujrat police had submitted its report in the court saying the raids had been conducted for the arrest of former federal minister Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, and his son Musa Elahi, in connection with the cases registered against them in Lahore and Gujrat, as well as another case lodged with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The judge Arfan Saeed dismissed the petition.
