Police book alleged impersonator

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have booked an alleged impersonator for posing as the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to get a police official transferred to a desired loca-tion.

Asghar Ali, a head constable, lodged an FIR with the Civil Lines police stating that he was posted at Naseerabad police station when he met Naveed Khan and Munir Khan, residents of Peshawar Road, who often used to visit the police station.They told him that they had good relations with his bosses.

They also told him that they frequently transferred police officers to desired departments andlocations,andcould arrange his transfer too.

He further said that he alsoasked them for his transfer from Naseerabad to Wah Saddar and they assured him that they woulddo it.

The complainant said in the FIR that a few days later, he received a phone call from the operator of the senior superintendent of police (SSP), who informed him that a person named Naveed Khan got his transfer from the SSP after introducing himself as the `Saudi ambassador`.

Following the complaint, the Civil Lines police have registered an FIR against the accused and launched an investigation.
