Action sought against profiteers

2014-04-13
KARAK: Social activists have demanded of the government to take action against the traders for increasing the prices of daily use items on their own.

Talking to Dawn on Saturday Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammad Faroque, Adil Khan and Ayaz Khan said that traders had increased prices of fruits and vegetables on the pretext that their transportation to the district cost them heavily.

The activists claimed that prices of fruits and vegetables had gone out of the common man`s reach as traders were not giving any heed to the directives of the district administration to sell these according to the official price list.

The activists demanded that the district administration create a system of check and balance to end profiteering.

They also complained of increase in prices of mutton and beef.

They threatened to organise protests if the district administration failed to provide relief to the poor masses. Correspondent
