Candidates protest `unfair marking`

TOBA TEK SvINGH: A group of beautician training diploma course candidates at the District Industrial Home (DIH) of the Punjab Social Welfare Department staged on Wednesday a demonstration against alleged unfair marking of their final examination papers.

They told reporters only two kits were provided to more than two dozen candidates where a few selected candidates were allowed to use them. They said they had complained six months ago about a teacher`s incompetence but no action was tal(en. They demanded an inquiry into the complaint.

CASE: Gojra city police registered on Wednesday a case against 18 residents of Kot Ghulam Muhammad for ransacking the building material of a contractor of the municipal committee. Contractor Tanweer Ahmad reported the matter with police that Shahzad Ahmad Mughal with his 17 accomplices not only restrained him from constructing the tank but they also damaged the material.

Local residents had staged a demonstration against the construction of water supply tank in their locality park as they were deemed the tank in the park as encouragement.

Local resident Ghulam Rasool told reporters that a judicial magistrate had issued a stay order on the application of residents of the locality against the use of land of park for the tank but the contractor violated court`s stay orders.
