Missing minor girl found dead in Kasur

KASUR: The Kasur Sadar police found the body of a seven-year-old girl, who went missing in the evening, late on Tuesday in an under-construction house near Haji Park.

She had gone on errand but did not return home.

The family with other residents of Qadiwind Road briefly placed the body on Ferozepur Road to express their concerns over the death of the minor girl, who was gagged by unidentified people.

The protest was peaceful as the protesters did not block the traffic. Police handed over the body to the family after legal formalities.

Kasur District Police Officer Ali Nasir Rizvi made seven teams for the arrest of the accused.

Our Reporter from Lahore adds: Mr Rizvi told Dawn that 39 suspects had been taken into custody for inter-rogation.

He said the suspects included addicts, labourers, nomads and other people while adding he also ordered to conduct geo-fencing of the area where the girl was found dead.

He said initially doctors ruled out possibility of rape and they had sent samples to the forensic laboratory.

He said they would arrest the accused in two days.

BODY: Rescuers fished out the body of a woman that drowned on Tuesday in the Lower Bar Doab Canal near Head Baloki when a rickshaw fell into it.

The woman, Najma Bibi, along with seven others had fallen into the canal on Tuesday. While seven others were rescued, Najma went missing. Her body was found on Wednesday.
