Parents, tribal elders urged to make enrolment drive a success

LAKKI MARWAT/GHALANAI: The local officials in Lakki Marwat district Mohmand Agency kicked off enrolment drives and urged parents to send their children to schools as education was vital for development of the areas.

In Lakki Marwat, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan kicked off the drive by filling admission forms of several children at a function held in Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School on Wednesday.

Besides others, ADC Mohammad Yaqoob Khan Barki, DDEO Ikramullah Khan, tehsil nazim Hidayatullah Khan, district council-lor Eng Haji Ameer Nawaz Khan and SDEO Alchtar Zaman attended the function.

The deputy commissioner also distributed free textbooks among the newly enrolled students. He along with district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel also led a walk.

Teachers, boy scouts, social activists and people from different walks of life participated in the walk. The participants carried banners inscribed with slogans highlighting the importance of education.

Mr Bakhtiar called upon parents to get their children enrolled in schools.

He directed the officials of education department to arrange awareness walks and depute teachers to launch door-to-door campaign in their respective localities to convince parents to get enrolled their children in schools.

In Mohmand Agency, the drive was launched by Assistant Political Agent Pir Abdullah Shah while the event was organised by local chapter of Pakistan Red Crescent Society at Government Middle School GatWarsak.

A wall( was also arranged that was attended by students, teachers, local tribesmen and PRC volunteers. The walk was led by Pir Abdullah Shah, Lt Col Imtiaz Ali and PRC representative Haji Tahir Akbar Mohmand.

Speaking on the occasion, Pir Abdullah Shah urged people to send their children to school as education played basic role in development of society.

On the occasion, 140 school bags were distributed among the students while Haji Tahir Akbar handed over medicines to people at a camp, set up by local administration in Bahi Daag.

Meanwhile, Political Agent Mahmood Aslam asked tribal elders to ensure enrolment of students in schools in their respective areas.

He was addressing a function arranged by education department at Government Higher Secondary School Ghalanai.

He said that privileges and monthly incentives of tribes would be enhanced in case of high enrolment in their areas.
