PPP threatens protests against excessive power outages

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People`s Party has warned of staging protests across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if excessive and unscheduled power loadshedding is not ended in the province.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, PPP provincial president Engr Mohammad Humayun Khan said the excessive loadshedding had been started with the start of summer, adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had repeatedly promised to overcome power crisis once they came into power, but failed.
He insisted that owing to the central government`s apathy, the hydel resources in KhyberPakhtunkhwa lied untapped, which showed that the rulers were not serious towards addressing core issues the country was facing.
He also came down hard on the provincial government for what he said not taking up the core issues with the federal government, because of which, the latter was least bothered to initiate any mega development scheme in KP.
Recalling the policies of the previous PPP government, Humayun Khan claimed that his party believed in federation, that was why, it gave due share in national resources to all the federating units.
He said the people were not longer interested in the ruling clique, as a result PPP was regaining its position in differentprovinces to win the next elections.
He claimed that the poor people had attached many expectations to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP chairman, to bring about positive changes in their lives.
Meanwhile, the PPP has announced names of the newlyappointed office-bearers in different divisions and districts. For Kohat division, Nadir Khattak has been appointed president with Abdul Jabbar Khattak general secretary and Noor Rehman information secretary.
For Kohat district, Abdul Rauf Advocate has been named president with Abdul Mannan Bangash general secretary and Javed Iqbal information secretary.
For Hangu district, Syed Ibne Ali Hussaini has been appointedpresident, Malik Azam Shah general secretary and Arif Bangash information secretary.
For Karak district, Haji Sardar has been named president, Jehanzaib Khattak general secretary and Javald Thandar information secretary.
For Mardan division, Abdul Samad Khan has been appointed president, Zahir Shah Tooru general secretary and Ebad Ehsan information secretary.
For Mardan district, Aurangzeb Khan Hoti has been named president, Aurangzeb Takhtbhaigeneralsecretary and Niaz Ali Khan information secretary.
For Swabi district, Naeem Khan has been appointed president, Asad Khan general secretary and Pervaiz Bacha information secretary.
