SOUTH WAZlRISTAN: The Lower South Waziristan district police officer has directed to complete the registration of Afghan refugees and non-local residents within five days.

Talking to Dawn on Saturday, DPO Asif Bahadur said the initiative was not only essential for identifying Afghan refugees residing in the area, but it was also crucial for maintaining law and order situation in the region.

He added non-local residents and Afghan refugees had been granted a five-day period to get registered.

`During this time, they are required to visit the relevant police stations and provide the necessary documents to complete their registration process,` he added.

He clarified that after the expiry of the five-day deadline, individuals who fail to register will face legal action.

`Non-registered Afghans will be detained, and appropriate legal measures will be taken against them.` DPO Bahadur stressed that the move would also help curb illegal activities in the area and provide greater protection to local residents.
