KARACHl: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant belonging to the outlawed Zainebiyoun Brigade in a raid in Soldier Bazaar area.

According to a CTD statement, suspect Syed Mohammed Moosa Rizvi, alias Kamran was allegedly involved in many incidents of targeted killings on sectarian grounds.

During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he and his accomplices killed several persons between 2023 and 2024.

`The suspect is an important member of Zainebiyoun Brigade,` the statement said, adding that the proscribed outfit had provided him funds on a regular basis.

Suspect shot dead in `encounter` A suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter in the Gulbahar area, police said on Saturday.

They said that the encounter took place between the Anti-Vehicles Lifting Cell and robbers in Firdous Colony near Lal Masjid.

After an exchange of gunfire, one suspect, identified as Nadeem Ahmed, was gunned down, while his accomplice managed to escape, they added.

The police claimed to have recovered one pistol with rounds and a snatched car from his custody.-Staff Reporter
