Three killed, as many injured in speeding accidents

SARGODHA: Three people were killed and as many others seriously injured in two road accidents caused by speeding factors in Sargodha city.

According to sources, a collision between two motorcycles near Bari Sabzi Mandi Railway Gate left 23-year-old Muhammad Shoaib of Mohammadi Colony and 24-year-old Babar of Chak 38 NB dead on the spot. Three others 25-year-old Jahanzeb, 15-year-old Zaman Abbas, and 8-year-old June Abbas, all from Mohammadi Colony were seriously injured.

In another incident, MuhammadTaha was killed after being hit by a speeding bus near Chungi No 9. He was taken to DHQ Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are probing both accidents.

FESTIVAL: A four-day Jashn-iBaharan (horse and cattle show) by the Sargodha District Council will begin on April 14.

Tent pegging teams from across the country are expected to participate in the traditional event. Conveners Safdar Sahi and Sardar Asim Sher Maken reviewed the arrangements and directed Chief Officer Asadullah Haria and other officials to ensure all necessary measures are taken to make the festival a success.

They said the mela reflects localculture and provides quality entertainment to the public. Provincial ministers will also be invited as special guests.

ACTION: The superintendent, invigilator and a clerk were dismissed for using mobile phones during an exam at a Sargodha Board of Intermediate and Secondary Examination (BISE) centre.

According to sources, BISE Examination Controller Riaz Qadeer Bhatti took action after the exam centre staffers were found using mobile phones during an ongoing exam at Government Central Model High School, Chak 88 South.

A report has been sent to the secre-tary of education for further disciplinary proceedings.

INJURED: A cattle trader was shot and injured after robbers opened fire at his vehicle during a robbery attempt near Bonga Mihnas, Lak Mor, on Sargodha-Bhalwal Road.

According to police, 45-year-old Muhammad Ashfaq was transporting animals to the cattle market when armed robbers opened fire at his vehicle. He was seriously injured and taken to hospital for immediate treatment.

The robbers fled the scene and police are investigating.

ARRESTED: Police arrested 17 people and recovered nine Kalashnikovs, a G3 rifle, pistols andthousands of bullets during a crackdown on illegal weapons and arms display in Sargodha.

Cases have been registered against the suspects and investigations are underway.

According to police, the Laksian, Madh Ranjha, Miani, and Atta Shaheed police stations took part in the raids.

Recovered items include Kalashnikovs from Mehran, Aamir, Suleman, Saghar, Saifullah, Arsalan, Abbas, Agib, and Mumtaz; a G3 rifle from Sabir; 30-bore pistols from Ali Hassan and others; 12-bore guns from Manaz and Ghayur; a .223 rifle from Muhammad Yar, and .44-bore rifles from Mazhar, Akhtar and Sarfaraz.
