Food outlets at railway stations fined

R A W A L P I N D I : Railways authorities have said their food safety teams inspected eateries at Rawalpindi and Lahore railway stations and imposed fines on several outlets for violating standard operating procedures.

According to a spokesman, inspections were conducted by food safety teams at both stations on the directives of Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi.

The spokesman said a total of 15 premises were inspected, including four restaurants, three food points and eight tuck shops.

He said the overall hygiene at these locations was satisfactory but several issues were observed during the inspection.

At Lahore Railway Station, the Punjab Food Authority and railway officials imposed fines on three stalls, sealed one, confiscated unauthorised items and discarded expired food items onsite.Staff Reporter
