Karachi: mass murders
2015-05-13
IT is very strange that while we are made by the media to remember the sad incidents of May 12, the Tahir Plaza burning, the Baldia factory fire, etc., we never hear about ghastly incidents of the Pakka Qila bloodbath in Hyderabad, the Aligarh Colony carnage, the Shershah Market pogrom and, three days of loot, arson, plunder, mayhem and killings in Karachi in reaction to Benazir Bhutto`s assassination.
Collectively, hundreds of people were murdered in these four incidents. Survivors, witnesses and perpetrators of these are still alive. But perhaps law and justice have slept and the media, especially the electronic media, is quiet.
Saulat Mirza`s hanging is not going to serve the law, rather it will sow more seeds of hatred as it will be used as political propaganda by some groups and as an example of the victimisation.
