CDA official illegally opens sealed business

By A Reporter 2015-05-13
ISLAMABAD: One of the businesses sealed on Monday, as part of the Capital Development Authority`s (CDA) drive against businesses being run in residential areas, was illegally reopened on Tuesday evening.

CDA Spokesperson Ramzan Sajid told Dawn that at one of the sealed businesses on School Road in F-6 was operating from a house where businesses were being run since 1998 and the CDA also cancelled the allotment of the plot.

`On Tuesday evening, the enforcement wing found out that some people had unsealed the building and when the enforcement team reached the spot, they found business being conducted as usual,` he said.

He said that according to the rules, a building can only be unsealed in the presence of a magistrate so the CCTV footage from the cameras installed at the building was confiscated. `The footage showed that a CDA Inspector collaborate with seven others to unseal the building,` he said.

An FIR was lodged against the seven suspects as well as the CDA official. Until the filing of this report, CDA officers were at the Kohsar Police Station for the registration of the FIR.
