Three burnt alive in rickshaw fire

KASUR: Three people were burnt alive and six others suffered serious burn injuries on Tuesday when the motorcycle-rickshaw they were riding caught fire after a head-on collision with a motorcycle near Darbar Baba Ilam Din on AllahabadChunian Road in Chunian.
Chunian City Station House Officer Muzaffar Akram said the driver of the motorcycle-rickshaw tried to avoid a snake crawling on the road. His sudden turn resulted in a head-on collision with the motorcycle. As both vehicles overturned,petrol leaked out of the rickshaw tank and ignited a sudden fire.

Among the dead included Ashig who died at the scene, while minor Harum Fatima and driver Bilal died at Lahore General Hospital.
Other passengers Barkat Ali, Saima Bibi, Gulzar, Muhammad Salman, Muhammad Mushtaq and Sajid were rushed to the Chunian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition to be referred to the Lahore General Hospital. There is no burn unit in the district.
According to SHO Akram, Saima Bibi, mother of Haram Fatima, had suf fered 85 percent burns, and Salman 100 percent burns and were in very serious condition.
Police also registered a case against rickshaw driver Bilal and motorcyclist Muhammad Ayub. Of them, Bilal has died while Ayub did not suffer burn. He is under treatment at Lahore General Hospital.
DIES: A woman died when came under the belt of a running thresher on Tuesday at boarder area village Nagar in Ganda Singh.
Police said Fouzia Bibi, a mother of three, was working at a thresher with her husband Liaqat Ali when her dupatta got entangled in the belt of the machine. She fell on the belt and died on the spot.
CASE: Khudian police registered a case against a man and his first wife for killing his second wife on Tuesday.
On Monday, police had seized the body of Perveen Bibi, second wife of Akram, from her room in village Khangaranwala. Police said Akram did not contact them for several hours after finding Perveen murdered.
Later, he moved an application against his rival with who he had a land dispute, implicating him in the murder.
On Tuesday, police registered a case against Akram and his first wife Nusrat Bibi on the complaint of Irfan, nephew of Parveen.
