LAHORE: A youth and a girl were axed to death allegedly `in the name of honour` in the Chuhng area on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Tahir, 25, of Pattoki and Iqra, 21, of Shahpur Kanjran.

A police official said Tahir wanted to marry Iqra but her parents rejected the proposal as both the families had developed differences.

Tahir visited Iqra in the early hours on Tuesday by scaling the boundary wall of herhouse. On finding them in a room, Iqra`s mother alerted the other family members.

Her father attacked them with an axe and killed both of them on the spot before fleeing from the scene.

The bodies were sent to the morgue for autopsy.

The police have arrested the suspect and lodged a case against him.

ELECTROCUTED: Two elderly labourers were electrocuted in South Cantonment areaon Tuesday.

Police said Waseem, 60, and Abdul Rehman, 62, were carrying an iron rod used for drilling at an under-construction house. Suddenly, the rod touched the high-tension electricity wires, resulting in a severe electric shock to both the workers who died on the spot.

The police after being informed of the incident reached the site and handed over bodies to the families after completing formalities. Staff Reporter
