JUI-F expels six members for violating party discipline

TIMERGARA: The local chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl on Tuesday terminated six activists from the basic membership for violating party discipline.

The terminated leaders included JUI-F Adenzai former emir Maulana Gul Rahim, former provincial deputy information secretary Qazi Ayaz ud Din, former provincial salar Abdul Mohammad, Haji Shakirullah of Sher Khani, Haji Abdul Rehman of Samar Bagh and Fath ul Islam of Toormang Dara.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the party`s cabinet chaired by district emir Maulana Zahid Khan.

Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Zahid Khan said a year ago intra-party election was held but some leaders didn`t accept the results. He added these people fielded their own candidates in different areas and began to use party flags against the candidates fielded by the party. `They bypassed the partyleadershiponeach occasion and the party had no optionother than to take action against them,` he said, adding the party was due to issue show-cause notices to other party members who were violating party discipline.

He said party workers would vote for those candidates who had the symbol of `book`in the elections.

The dissolved members, he said, could file appeal to party`s provincial leadership against the decision of the district chapter.

WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN POLLS: Amid outcry about the absence of women voters in the recently held by-poll in PK-95 constituency here, an NGO, Pak Women, on Tuesday arranged a seminar on `women`s political participation in polls`, in collaboration with the UNDP.

The seminar was attended by social, political activists and lawyers. The NGO`s district coordinator Hazrat ShoaibandprojectmanagerMohammad Yar Khan were also in attendance.

The participants expressed dissatis-faction over the arrangements made by the election commission to ensure women participation in voting. They said establishment of joint polling stations was uncalled-for.

The participants also called for efforts for ensuring that women cast their vote without any restriction in the upcoming local government elections.

They decided to form special committees at village level to motivate and convince the males to allow their women to use their right of franchise.

The participants were asked to inform at least ten males and ten females in their surroundings about the importance of women voting.

The participants demanded of the election commission to set up separate polling stations for women voters and also arrange transport for women of far off villages in order to facilitate them for voting.

Theysaid thatreligiousscholarsand ulema would also be taken in confidence in that regard. Correspondent
