SWABI: Adviser to the Prime Minister, Amir Muqam, claimed that the protest sit-in led by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday was aimed to divert the people`s attention from his government`s failure to serve the people of the province.
Pervez Khattak and PTI lawmakers from the KP staged the protest in the federal capital against prolonged power cuts in their province and alleged changes to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC).
Talking to mediapersons during his visit to the district, the PML-N leader said such protests were a waste of time, adding that PTI leadership had forgotten the promises they had made with the people of KP during the last general elections.
Mr Muqam visited the residence of late army Major Mohammad Faisal Waseem, and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
The PML-N leader said staging protest was constitutional right of every citizen but PTI leadership had not right to do so as it had failed to deliver in KP. He said that instead of protests the KP governmentshould utilise its energies for betterment of people and good governance. `Once again after the announcement of the date for local bodies elections the PTI leaders and its coalition partners have geared up for making hollow pledges to mislead the people, but they would fail,` he said.
To a query Mr Muqam said: `No doubt that May 30 local bodies` election is a test case for PTI as its lawmal(ers won`t be able to face voters for their poor performance.
Mr Muqam claimed that PML-N would do well in the local government elections, and said the federal government had been making all out efforts to end loadshedding in the country.
