`Funds not being used for public welfare in Karak`

KARAK: The district president of Khattak Ittehad, a rights organisation, Maulana Mirzageem Khan on Tuesday complained the district got Rs2.8 billion as oil and gas royalty and Rs900 million as production bonus during the current financial year but the money hadn`t been spent for the resolution of the local people`s basic problems.
He said this while addressing a news conference here.
Maulana Mirzageem Khan said though the district had got huge funding during the current fiscal, local roads were in dilapidated condition, hospitals were understaffed and other facilities were missing.
He said local lawmakers had failed to resolve the people`s problems.
Maulana Mirzageem said Khattak Ittehad and other rights organisations of thedistrictstagedasit-inatBazMohammad Chowk for more than 25 days prompting the government to promise early resolution of people`s problems but the promise later turned out to be false.
He also complained about shortage of drinking water in the district and said the people`s repeated complaints to the relevant authorities had fallen on deaf ears.
Maulana Mirzageem demanded that the people`s elected representatives ensure the immediate provision of basic facilities of life in the area.
He asked the people to reject the lawmakers not living up to their expectations.
Maulana Mirzageem also demanded establishment of industries and launch of mega projects in the district.Correspondent
