ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday approved the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Amendment) Bill, allowing Nacta to hold its meeting once in a year.
As the mover of the bill, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), could not attend the meeting, a representative of Nacta briefed the committee that according to rules it had to meet quarterly. However, he said, not a single meeting of the board of governors of Nacta could be held since 2013 because there is a large number of members of the board, including prime minister, chief ministers, officials of home departments and other important institutions.—Staff Reporter
