LAHORE: The Lahore city district administration on Monday called for prioritising the completion of schemes in less developed localities and mohallahs, including streets and chowks, under the ongoing Lahore Development Programme (LDP) and directed the officials tofocus on these projects to ensuretimely relief for the general public.

`You must take up the schemes related to rehabilitation of streets in mohallahs on a top priority and complete all as soon as possible. All schemes must be completed by June 30 the deadline fixed by the Punjab government,` DC Syed Musa Raza said this while presiding over a meeting here on Monday.

The participants, during the meeting, critically reviewed all ongoing development schemes to assess the progress so far and streamline efforts towards their timely completion. Key officials, including the additional deputy commissioner (finance and planning), chief officer,Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, all assistant commissioners and other relevant officers underscored the collaborative approach being adopted by the district administration. The core focus of the session was to ensure swift execution, maintain high quality and uphold transparency across all projects falling under the purview of the Lahore Development Programme. During the review, the DC emphasised the critical importance of continuous and stringent monitoring of all ongoing developmental works.

He issued directives to all contractors involved in the programme to complete their assigned tasks within the stipu-lated timelines. He warned that any delays or lapses in execution would not be tolerated, reinforcing the administration`s commitment to efficient project delivery. A significant component of the programme is the crucial work being undertaken for the rehabilitation and construction of damaged and unpaved streets across the city.

Recognising the difficulties faced by citizens due to the poor condition of these thoroughfares, the administration sought prioritising their repair and reconstruction to improve urban infrastructure and citizen mobility. The emphasis is on ensuring that all rehabilitation works are carried out to a high standard, guaranteeing that citizens will benefit from durable infrastructure for an extended period.

He reiterated the administration`s unwavering commitment to the strict oversight of all developmental schemes. He stated that only through durable and quality workmanship could citizens gain long-term advantages.

He further added that theprogramme is envisioned to be more than just infrastructure projects; it is intended to bring about a tangible positive transformation in the lives of the citizens of Lahore.

`The administration remains dedicated to completing this programme in line with its real objectives,` he said directing the officials to closely monitor the progress of projects within their respective jurisdictions and to promptly address any issues that might arise.

Meanwhile, the Lahore district administration sought good cleanliness and seweragesystems in areas of Karol Ghati, UC 164, and Sher Shah Road. A team, led by DC and Assistant Commissioner Shalimar Muhammad Sadiq Tarazi, and other officials conducted a detailed review of ongoing operations.

During the visit, AC Tarazi briefed the DC on administrative efforts, highlighting the progress made in solid waste management and other key areas.

The administration`s door-todoor waste collection campaign has been a major success, improving the city`s cleanliness.This initiative, managed by the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), ensures regular waste collection from every street and neighbourhood, providing residents with a cleaner environment.

The DC, on the occasion, instructed the LWMC to further enhance cleanliness measures across the district, while directing the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to maintain high standards in their operations.

RAILWAYS: The railways ministry on Monday assigned Farman Ghani (a BS-19 officer) working as project directorShahdra-Faisalabad-Khanewal section with the additional charge of the post of PD RohriSibbi section in addition to his own duty.

Syed Moalim, a BS-19 officer working as deputy divisional superintendent (Sukkur division) was assigned additional charge of the post of PD Tando Adam-Rohri section.

Abdul Kareem Memon, a BS-19 officer, presently working as deputy chief controller of stores, Lahore, was transferred and posted as director procurement, Pakistan Railways carriage factor, Islamabad.
