TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of children and their parents working at brick kilns and in other small industries staged a demonstration on Sunday at Kamalia on the World Day Against Child Labour.
The workers and their children carrying placards against child labour gathered outside the local press club.
On the occasion, Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) divisional president Baba Abdul Latif and tehsel head MalikAbdul Majeed in their speeches said the government`s claims that it wanted to end child labour in the country were hollow and children were openly being used as workers, along with their parents and families, in various industries.
They said though some of the children of brick kiln workers had been admitted to state-run schools, they had not so far been provided scholarships, uniform, books and stationery as promised by the government. Correspondent
