KASUR: Two officials of Sarai Mughal police station had to do some `extra duty` and that too for a gang of armed robbers who were looting commuters on a road on Sunday.
According to the police, Constable Iftikhar and Qumi Razakar (volunteer) were on their way to Sheikhum police station when they were intercepted by eight armed robbers who had set up a `picket` on Halla Road.
As the two uniformed of ficials tried to put up resistance, the robbers gave them a good thrashing and then told them on gunpoint to stop vehicles on the road.
This made the robbers` job easy; as soon as the two uniformed men stopped a vehicle, the robbers would pounce on it, depriving the passengers of their cash, mobile phones and other valuables.
Af ter looting several vehicles, the robbers fled away along with of ficial weapon of Constable Iftikhar, the police said, adding that the matter was being looked into.
Sarai Mughal police have entered a case against the unidentified robbers.
