Former revenue official arrested in graft case

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested a former tehsildar along with three accomplices over alleged corruption in acquisition of over 500 kanals of land for Workers Welfare Board.

A statement issued here on Tuesday identified the accused as Syed Masood Shah, and his accomplices Mahaz Khan, Imrose Khan and Hussain Khalil who were involved in corruption during acquisition of 500 kanal of land for Workers Welfare Board at Mouza Shahi Bala in Peshawar, causing a huge loss of over Rs50 million to national exchequer.

The statement said that the WWB acquired land measuring 500 kanals for construction of a labour complex at a cost of Rs275 million, while an amount of more than Rs90 million was embezzled by the accused persons. An amount of about Rs10 million has so far been recovered from the accused.

The accused Syed Masood Shah would be presented before the accountability court today (Wednesday) for obtaining his physical remand, said the NAB statement.—Bureau Report
