ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday terminated the basic party membership of party`s former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Parvez Khattak for not providing a satisfactory reply to the show-cause notice served on him on June 21 for inciting party members to quit the party.
PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub issued the termination notice to Mr Khattak for not providing a satisfactory reply within the stipulated time regarding contacting party members and inciting them to leave the party.
The notification reads: `With reference to the show cause notice served to you earlier dated 21 June, 2023, you have not provided a satisfactory reply within the given stipulate d time regarding contacting party members and inciting them to leave the party.
`Now, therefore, you are served with this notice of termination from your basic membership of PTI. Your membership from the PTI has been terminated with immediate effect,` it added.
On June 1, Mr Khattak had announced his resignation from the party position, but said he would retain the basic membership of the party.
In a presser, he had said that no one was happy with the May 9 incident, adding that whatever happened was wrong and prayed that such incidents would never be repeated in the country.
Later, the PTI said Mr Khattak was trying to convince party leaders to quit PTI due to which a show cause notice was issued to him.
