JEDDAH: King Khalid of Saudi Arabia gave a clarion call for Islamic solidarity here this morning [July 12] and said his Government would stand solidly behind the Muslim world.

He said this in a statement inaugurating the sixth conference of Muslim Foreign Ministers at the imposing Al Hamra Palace, overlooking the Red Sea. ... ...[T]he King regretted that Jerusalem was still under Zionist occupation and the people of Palestine continued to be deprived of their self-determination right. ... ...[J]erusalem, King Khalid said, was an Arab land and cannot be kept under Zionist occupation for long. ... ...[K]ing Khalid was given standing ovation when accompanied by Mr Yasser Arafat he entered the conference hall. News agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by Our Staff Reporter,] Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah Bukhari, 69, the poet, the stage player, the instrumentalist, the `Marsia Khwan,` and above all else the noted broadcaster, died in Karachi yesterday [July 12]. ... An era came to an end as he breathed his last at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases following a heart attack. ... ...[H]e leaves behind three daughters. ... ...[S]ince his childhood, Mr Bukhari had interest in literary activities.
